Bought a car in Twente, or leaving the Netherlands and taking your own car with you? Our RDW-approved export desk is right here in Hengelo, at Slachthuisweg 135. This is where the car is deregistered for export and gets white export plates and temporary third-party insurance, so it can leave the country on its own wheels.
We are an RDW-approved export company. We are not part of the RDW and not an insurer: we process the deregistration ourselves and arrange the temporary insurance through our insurance partner.
Buying from a Dutch seller? The car is not transferred to your name in the Dutch register first. The RDW's advice is that the buyer exports the vehicle in his or her own name. You receive the export certificate in your name, the seller gets the vrijwaringsbewijs, and that settles the transfer.
Two things to watch. The ID must belong to the person the export is registered to. And without a valid APK a car may not be driven on public roads, not even on white plates.
All prices are starting prices, including VAT where applicable. Outside office hours, for postal delivery or for heavy and non-standard vehicles the price can be higher. We always confirm it in advance.

The desk is open Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 16:30 and closed on Sunday. Picking up a car in the evening, or arriving on a Sunday? Outside office hours we work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by appointment. A higher rate may apply, and you will know it beforehand.
Cars, vans and other commercial vehicles, motorhomes, caravans, trailers, motorcycles, scooters, mopeds and trucks. A car gets two white export plates; a motorcycle, scooter, moped, caravan or trailer has one plate, at the rear. For heavy or non-standard vehicles, such as a truck, a semi-trailer or a heavy motorhome or van, the price is on request.
Driving in on the German A30? At De Lutte, near Bad Bentheim, it becomes the Dutch A1. From Bad Bentheim it is about 35 km to our desk, roughly half an hour. On the way back to Germany you simply take the same route.
Before you set off, check the rules for Dutch export plates in your destination country and in every country you pass through, as they differ per country. The RDW explains the export process in English on its page about exporting a vehicle.
Can't come to Hengelo in person? You can prepare the request online and send the yellow plates by post or courier. We start once they arrive and return documents and plates insured and with tracking, also abroad. Postal delivery costs more; we confirm the price in advance.
The desk is about 1 km from the A1 motorway, exit via the Bornsestraat. From the Markt square in the centre it is about 2 km, roughly a 5-minute drive. Living in Borne, Delden or Oldenzaal? Those are about 4, 6 and 15 km away.

No. We are an RDW-approved export company, not the RDW itself, and we are allowed to deregister vehicles for export. A company name on the export certificate is only possible at an RDW location.
The export is arranged in the buyer's name, so we need a valid passport, ID card or driving licence of that person. If the buyer cannot travel to the Netherlands, the RDW allows a contact person in the Netherlands to arrange the export.
After deregistration for export you may drive on Dutch public roads for 14 days, but never beyond the expiry date of the APK, the Dutch roadworthiness test. Outside the Netherlands, each country has its own rules for Dutch export plates.
Yes, export is possible within the EU and beyond. For destinations outside the EU and EFTA, a customs export declaration (EX-A) may also be needed. Tell us in advance and we will discuss what is required.
The seller receives the vrijwaringsbewijs, the proof that the registration has stopped. According to the RDW, the Dutch owner's insurance obligation, APK obligation and motor vehicle tax end after export.
Cash or bank transfer. You always know the price before we start, including any surcharge, for example outside office hours.
